Saturday, September 25

9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m: "Fun and Creativity with Kaye Wood" lecture and trunk show,
Lenna Hall, $10 admission pre-sold or at the door (You'll get a $5 coupon to use at the booth!).
You've seen Kaye "strip" on her TV show, Strip Quilting and Kaye's Quilting Friends, for over 40 seasons. Now watch her "strip" her quilts in person. Kaye Wood, "Quit Engineer", has developed strip quilting into more than squares and rectangles—it can be diamonds, triangles, hexagons, and much more. You'll learn how easy and fun quilting can be with Kaye's original techniques that assure success and inspire creativity. She designs for both the pointed and pointless people...so there's something for everyone today!

2 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Kaye Wood will be at the Millcreek Sewing & Fabric booth in the Athenaeum Hotel Lobby for book signings and pictures.

Sunday, September 26
9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: "Fussy Cutting the Kaye Wood Way" lecture and trunk show
Lenna Hall, $10 admission pre-sold or at the door (You'll get a $5 coupon to use at the booth!)
Have fun fussy-cutting embroidery designs or fabric motifs to create stars, circles, hearts, hexagons, and octagons. With just a few changes made in traditional patterns, you can begin quilting with those that are sometimes intimidating, but are now easy-to-do fans, braided borders, and trees. Get lots of different ideas for that first—or next—project. You'll leave the seminar saying "I can do that"!

Friday, September 24, Pre-Show Classes

  Marcy Scott

 Nancy Walsh

 9 a.m. – noon    OR   2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Nancy Walsh, Blazing Stars Table Topper Sit-and-sew class, Turner Community Center
The contrast of the magnificent fabric colors make this table topper a stunning piece. Using the Starmaker template by Kaye Wood makes your piecing both easy and fun. Nancy's calm demeanor and prize-winning skills guarantee your success! ($49, includes kit )
  10 a.m.  - 2 p.m.:
Marcy Scott, Sashiko Sampler
Sit-and-hand sew class, Turner Community Center
This Sashiko workshop is the only one of its kind in our area!  A running stitch traditionally done by hand with white thread on indigo fabric, sashiko was originally used to hold clothing patches in place. The Japanese peasants turned this utilitarian sewing into a highly decorative art. Marcy will help you create a sampler of this beautiful surface embellishment. ($39 includes kit).

Saturday, September 25 Evening Class

  7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.:
Katherine Artines and Judy Fenton, "Jacket Jewelry"
Sit-and-Sew Class
Turner Community Center. Create a unique embellishment for any jacket...or purse...or your favorite hat—a layered pin that is just a bit out of the box. You'll use a "cool tool" to sew decorative stitching in the round and then let go of your inhibitions to construct your "points don't matter" patchwork. Judy and Katherine will supply the "wonky" pills to guarantee you enjoy the process! ($20, includes kit)

Sunday, September 26, Class

  1 p.m. - 4 p.m.:
Nancy Walsh, Diamonds in Motion Wall Hanging

Sit-and-sew class, Turner Community Center Use a great tool from Kaye Wood—the View & Do template—to create these floating dimensional blocks. (Kaye presented it in this morning's lecture!) The fussy-cut diamonds are the secret to giving this piece motion. Nancy loves the easy-but-unusual project and you will, too! ($49, includes kit)
