Join us for an exciting and modern in-the-hoop table runner - all made with the embroidery machine.
You'll start with using simple shapes to create a bold applique, then continue to have the embroidery machine do the quilting of layers and then join those segments together to produce a vibrant runner for the table or the bed!

Create this beautiful and unique runner using a new bias applique technique from one of international educators. Pauline will walk you through her process of covering raw edge applique with continuous bias strips. She will share all her secretes of how to make it lay nice and flat and the best way she has found to stitch it down. You will not want to miss this technique based class to add to other quilts, wall hangings or quilts you will make in the future.

Learn how to put a beautifully machine stitched binding on your quilt.  Kay will teach you how to use shortcut binding techniques to make a flange and binding all in one unit with no hand stitching.  A great way to get those quilts done fast and easy.
You will bring a set of pre-quilted placemats, a baby quilt or a lap quilt - all without binding- to use a your project as you learn this binding technique.

Class for beginners 

Get started in English Paper Piecing, EPP, with this modern take on a dresdan plate called Ring of Coffins by Art School Dropout.  This simple pattern can be completed in two different sizes. There is a $15 kit. It will include the PDF pattern, the small coffin acrylic template and papers to complete two rings. The fee will be paid directly to Gretchen at the beginning of class.

This workshop is a great option for those just at the start of their quilting journey or those that have been sewing or quilting for many years. Create this rug for your home, or to gift to a family member or friend.
You will have the option to make either a rectangle or circle rug to suit your chosen space.
The rug is constructed from folded strips of fabric that are layered with batting, then the strips are woven to make a nice soft rug.
This class will have you thrilled with the results you go home with.

Please be familiar with EEP or have taken the morning class.


Advance your skills in EPP with this Ring of Stars pattern by Dutchess House Patterns.  This patriotic pattern uses a pentagon and triangles to make the star in a larger pentagon.  Ten star pentagons are then connected to make the final ring of stars. There is a  $7.00 kit. It includes paper pieces, clips, needle, thread, PDF pattern, and coloring sheet. The fee will be paid directly to Gretchen at the beginning of class.

Full day class for intermediates 

 

Challenge your EPP abilities with this Grandmother’s Star Template by Dutchess House Patterns.  After starting with a simple hexagon flower, this pattern adds a kite shape and two different triangle shapes to form a larger hexagon.  Learn how to deal with tails, tails and more tails while putting this pattern together. Also learn about knife edge finishing versus appliqueing the Grandmother’s Star onto a background fabric as a finishing method.  There will be a $5 kit. It will include PDF, clips, thread, needle and pattern pieces.

Urban will talk about his family history in the industry and present a DVD on the history of Embroidery in Switzerland.

Pauline’s trunk shows are inspirational and full of ideas to make quilting very achievable for anyone who is already into quilting or one who wants to get started.

Pauline is the inventor of the Sasher tool and author of the very popular Quilt as You Go
Handbook. She will take you step by step on how to make any quilt that has any
sort of Sashing a QAYG quilt.

Her technique is such an easy way to quilt, especially for
anyone who struggles to quilt a large quilt on a small domestic sewing machine. Amazing Sashing can add so much creative detail to any quilt with little work.

           The fantastic Sasher Set will open up a whole new different way of making sashing and constructing quilts.

Quilting each block as you go allows the quilter to be more creative with quilting designs. Whether doing it free motion or quilting with Feed Dogs up anyone can be fantastic quilter.

     A MODA designer since 1996, Deb feels honored to have watched Moda’s growth and success over the years.  “Moda’s integrity and genuine caring about quilters, the quilting industry and their designers has always been part of why I love working with this wonderful company.  That and the “best in the business” members of the Moda family have made it an incredible journey.”

     Hand drawing and hand painting her fabric lines, Deb has created over 100 groups since she began working with Moda.  She loves working with different colors and patterns, the more intricate the better!
Deb will walk you through the process. From the creative part to the printing of the fabric. 

     Always interested in art, Deb was an art teacher before becoming a designer.  Her artwork has been featured on many different products over the years:  calendars, greeting cards, garden flags, books, framed prints and more.  Recently, she and Scott proudly launched their own notecard line called “Sew Noted,” notecards for the sewing and quilting enthusiats.

Kay will talk about organization and how to clean up the clutter! She will show you how to cut up your scraps in a logical way for tidy storage, and how to use up your scraps after you have them organized.  There will be LOTS of Scrappy quilts examples to show you just how you can clean up your sewing room and use up what you have!
